Overview

Donavon Warren is a US-based founder and investor. His personal brand site, donavonwarren.com, is a hub for finance, crypto, leadership and entrepreneurship content. When we started in late 2022, the site was at an early-stage SEO position — only a handful of indexed keywords, very weak authority, and a scattered backlink profile with no structured content strategy.

The challenge

Nov 2022 baseline: Semrush Authority Score of just 4, ~97 monthly organic visits, only 14 ranked keywords, 181 referring domains and 634 total backlinks. Competing in the US finance/crypto SERP against major publishers required all three — technical foundation, topical authority and trusted link signals — none of which existed.

Donavon Warren is a US-based serial entrepreneur, investor and thought leader. In late 2022 he engaged us to build a personal brand around finance, cryptocurrency and leadership. The goals were clear:

Key Learnings

  1. A low Authority Score is not game over — with the right topical depth and trustworthy link signals, even a personal brand site can enter compounding growth.
  2. "Experience" is the most under-utilized lever in E-E-A-T — first-person, original perspective consistently produces a noticeable SERP edge.
  3. 24 months is the realistic horizon — for early-stage personal brand SEO, the first 6 months are mostly foundation; real movement usually starts between month 9–12.
